The AVOCADO plant can be grown on land as well as on a terrace/balcony. It is grown in Goa, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Maharashtra (i.e., South-Central India), and in the eastern Himalayan state of Sikkim. It cannot tolerate the hot dry winds and frost of Northern India. Climatically it is grown in tropical or semitropical areas experiencing summer rainfall.
